What the notice is
A durable notice, required under AS 3660, recording which termite management system was installed, by whom and what maintenance it needs. It normally lives in the meter box.
What was recorded
Termite management notice not found, in the meter box, at an Austral lock-up inspection. Finding it missing at lock-up is early enough for it to be an easy fix.
Why it is not just admin
Nothing else records it. Without it no future inspector, buyer or pest controller can tell whether the house has a physical barrier, a chemical treated zone, or both.
The other half of the problem
On a separate Austral frame inspection a physical barrier was recorded loose or damaged. That is the same protection failing physically rather than administratively.
What to do
Ask for the notice before you sign, and photograph it the day you get it. Then keep the inspection zone at the slab edge visible.
